I have this problem. I know many of you have the similar problem. Too many flies flying around your house is very annoying. It does not matter whether your house is clean or not they still come. I clean my kitchen so there will be no smells that will attract flies but look! there are still a flies coming. They even make a free shows in my kitchen.

One method that can be used is simply buy an insects spray and spray the flies to death. That sounds pretty cruel to me. So I probably will not subscribe to that idea.

If any of you got some idea about how to get rid those flies using a natural pest control please share them here. I want to know it and I am sure many of us here would love to know about it also.

Ultrasonic Pest Control Blog!

I stumbled upon this blog in my internet search this morning about Ultrasonic Pest Control. As you know flies normally loves to have their unofficial gathering on shit, drainages, toilets etc. They never wash their feet. After that if they land of your meals, your meals will become contaminated. I have some tricks how to get rid of this annoying small creatures.

Fly does not really mint. Putting some small sachets of crush mint around your house will discourages them from coming to your house.
Using Bay leaves, cloves and eucalyptus in small cheese cloth squares which can be hung by open windows or doors also discourages them from entering your house.
You can also place a small opened container of sweet basil and clover near pet food or any open food in the house
Eucalyptus Oil can deter flies. A few drops of it on a scrap of absorbant cloth is good. You can leave the things in where the flies love to have their unofficial gathering. If you are a creative type of person you can even make your own flypaper with this simple recipe:Mix 1/4 cup syrup, 1 tbsp. granulated sugar and 1 tbsp. brown sugar in a small bowl. Cut strips of brown kraft paper and soak in this mixture. Let dry overnight. To hang, poke a small hole at the top of each strip and hang with string or thread.
You can also use safe and non-toxic, pheramone based outdoor and indoor fly traps wherever seems appropriate.

..*Make Your House Not Fly Friendly. I know it is hard to get rid of them if there are too many cockroaches in the house. They are very quick to come to your food on the table if it is left unattended for more that 5 minutes. And once they attacked your food, you may consider to throw your food away as there are already contaminated. If only you know where those cockroaches are living? Thinking about it I feel like vomit

"We moved into a home that already had roaches and those darn things can mulitply like crazy. We put out lots of boric acid and had an exterminator come out every month. We got rid them but some things like our fridge, microwave, computer, freezer were like breeding grounds for them. They would stay near or in the motors cause it was warm and they thrive in warm places. I know it's costly to replace those things but it was worth it. We no longer live in that house and no longer see any roaches"

My 2-cents: Always clean your floor, eliminate all Cockroaches breeding ground and get something to keep them away. If possible find some natural way to get them away.

More Facts About Cockroaches And How To Get Rid Of Them

How To Get Rid of Mosquitoes From Your House

I normally will do some gardening at the back of my house in the weekend. One thing I can't stand to be out there bit longer is because of this tiny creature the mosquitoes. I hate them pretty much. Mosquitoes, disease carrying pests, can adversely affect your health. So it's imperative to get rid of them in any way you can. In the tropics like Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia,Indonesia etc so many people died because of Malaria or dengue disease carried by mosquitoes. That is how dangerous mosquitoes are.

There is a few tips for those people who got pretty much time at home to do the cleaning and getting rid those mosquitoes breeding places around your house. I use to do it before. I cleaned the garden and around the house. It seems work but only for about 1 or 2 days and they start coming in again. The reason why is because the house next door love to live with mosquitoes. He seldom doing any garden cleaning. So those mosquitoes from his house yard also come to my house. I did try to talk with him about the matter and he agree that the mosquitoes is the problem but his excuse was he does not have much time.

My 2-cents: So the only tips you can do is keep making sure your garden is free from mosquitoes breeding places.

More About Home Pest Control Tips Here

Getting Rid of Pest In The Kitchen or Pantry

There is one thing in every morning that I really can't stand. Discovering "bugs" in your breakfast cereal may be disgusting, but it isn't unusual, because many insects like to eat what we do. Stored foods commonly infested include flour, cereals, cracked grains, baking mixes and processed foods, crackers, macaroni, cured meats, powdered milk, dried fruits, nuts, popcorn and spices. Insects that feed on these products may also infest other grain-based items such as pet foods, birdseed and ornamental corn. Dried flower arrangements may also be attacked.

Sometime I put all my foods inside the freezer or into something where pest cannot get it. However having to do those all the time simply make me very tired. I am thinking of getting rid of them. Currently I use this Woodstream Safer Pantry Pest Trap. So far the works.

More tips about pest traps.
Woodstream 05140 Safer Pantry Pest Trap (2 per box)

Getting Rid Of Rats In The House

I am sure you are not too happy if you found out that mice have touched or eaten your food in kitchen. I experience it before and sometime I will have to store everything into the freezer so that the mice cannot touch it. It is indeed very annoying and I was thinking of chasing them one by one with knife and slaughter them. I believe nobody will be able to do that as the mice only come out in the dark or during the night and they are too quick to hide or run away if they saw you coming. There is new technology on how to control or to ensure the mice are not paying you a visit at home. M.s Global Direct Innovative product solution has come out with DX610 Electronic Pest Repeller. Let see what is this product all about and how this product can help you to get rid of those mice away from your house. I haven't had the opportunity to use them in my house so I hope you can share with us here your experience the product soon.

Getting Rid Of Mice
By: M.s Global Direct Innovative product solution

There a three very important steps to take in driving out mice from your home. All three steps are critical for total success. Total success is defined as:

Eliminating the rodent problem that already exits in you home or business, and preventing the rodent infestation in the future.

1. Create an uncomfortable environment so the rodent will not want to stay.

Now that your home has been invaded by the unwanted rodents, you need to start creating an uncomfortable environment for them so they will want to leave for another location.

The DX610 Electronic Pest Repeller works by transmitting a powerful range of ultrasonic sound waves in the 45,000 Hz range. The auto-changing, high intensity frequencies and pulse sequences were designed to output at known auditory sensitivity ranges of pests, like rats, and mice. Lab and customer field testing have shown, for example, that rodents, like mice or rats, will leave the area for a less aggravating and stressful environment.

2. Modify the Habitat.

Make sure that the areas around the perimeter of your home are cleaned of debris and weeds. Cut the tall grasses and weeds around the home or office, eliminate any piles of debris, and secure any storage containers so rodents, like rats and mice can't seek shelter. For trash cans, secure the lids. For compost containers, make sure they are covered and latched. Proper sanitation is an important step in controlling house mouse populations. In particular, eliminate places where mice can find shelter. They cannot survive in large numbers if they have few places to rest, hide, or build nests and raise their young. Total elimination of mice through sanitation alone, however, is almost impossible. Mice can survive in small areas with limited amounts of food and shelter. Most buildings where food is handled or stored will have problems with house mice, no matter how clean they are if they have not been "mouse-proofed."

The interior of your home, especially the kitchen, is a primary target for Rodents like Mice, Rats or field mice, so keep the counters clean, and all food tightly sealed. Eliminate leaky faucets, fix leaky pipes, don't leave food on the floor for your pets at night, remove the clutter from you counters, and keep your kitchen sink clean and free of food particles.

3. Exclusion.

Mouse-proof construction is the most successful form of house mouse control. "Build them out" by eliminating all openings larger than 1/4 inch through which they can enter a structure. Steel wool makes a good temporary plug. Seal cracks in building foundations and openings for water pipes, vents, and utilities with metal or concrete. Doors, windows and screens should fit tightly. Cover the edges of doors and windows with metal to prevent gnawing. Latex, plastic, rubber, wood, or other gnawable materials are unsuitable for plugging holes used by mice.

There are many ways, as you can see, for the Mice to get into your home. Follow the above three steps and you will be on your way to living mouse free!

My 2-cents: The technology is indeed good and sometime very effective but I believe we should combine it with good home waste management and natural pest control. I like the idea of having 1 or 2 cats in the house to hunt the rats every night. I tried it before and it really good. Within 1 week there were no longer any rats in my house.

Make A Fruit Fly Trap To Reduce Fruit Fly InYour House

If there are too many fruit flies in your house, I got an idea on what you should do to get rid of them. Having too many fruit flies, flying around inside your house is not only annoying but also they will attack whatever fruit stored in your kitchen. What some people do is normally just spray them with pesticides or poison and they all die. To me that practices is not good. You probably managed to eliminate them but at the same time you are inviting other insect to come in to get the dead fruit flies on your floor, and are you going to spray them again? Don't do that. By doing so you are exposing you entire family to poison as well. The best thing you should do is to trap them. More economical, environmental friendly and also your family is not exposed to poison. Try it and you will see the different.

Natural Methods In Pest Control

As I mentioned in my earlier post that pest can be control effectively by using good home waste management. However there is certain types of pest like termite that cannot be drive away from your home by good home waste management alone. This is especially so if your house materials contains Let see what Mellisa Kaplan has to say about natural pest control.

Natural Pest Control
By: Mellisa Kaplan

When you have children or pets, finding safe ways to get rid of natural pests becomes increasingly important. When one has enclosed or free-roaming reptiles, it becomes even more important to find ways to get rid of the unwanted beasties who congregate in undesirable levels in our homes and yards.

During the wet weather, I kept finding my kitchen and iguana room, and occasionally my snake room, infested with ants. I found that Grant's ant baits, properly primed with a toothpick and hot water (as directed on the box) would get rid of even the blackest flood of ants within 24-36 hours, but in the mean time, the little blighters would range far and wide. I wanted some way of restricting their travels that would still be safe for my iguanas and other free roamers. The iguanas and blue-tongue skink were of particular concern due to their habit of investigating new things in their environment with their tongues. Based on something I read in rec.pets.herp, I tried something when the last invasion was just beginning. I pulled out my large container of ground cinnamon, and poured out the cinnamon to form borders beyond which I hoped the ants would not cross.

It worked! It kept them corralled on one part of my kitchen counter, stopping them from spreading across the counter and down to the floor. As for the ants coming in a crack in the wall beneath the ceiling in the iguana room, I laid down cinnamon in the corner on the floor below, and on the basking shelves above - so the ants that managed to get down the wall between the shelves and walls were stopped at the floor. For good measure, I used a syringe and "squirted" some cinnamon into the crack itself. In less than a day, no more ants were seen. And the room smells nice, too!

Herewith are tips and tricks suggested by others. While I hope that you never have to use any of them, I hope they work for you as well as the cinnamon works for me!

What Makes A Product Toxic?
What makes a pesticide (-cide = kill) non-toxic to the environment and other animals, including you? All of the ingredients in a product, inert and active, go into the environment. If the active or inactive/inert ingredients are non-toxic, such as fatty acids, but they are put into a petrochemical base, the product is still, technically, toxic and should not be used when a non-toxic alternative is being sought. You may have to question the manufacturer about the inert ingredients if you cannot find information on them elsewhere. By law, all sellers of pesticides and other toxic products must have Materials Safety Data Sheets on hand for all the products they sell to give to consumers who request them, or they must be able to provide the consumer with specific information on how to obtain it for the products they sell. Few, however, do. See the MSDS Online section for sites with online MSDS information. woods element. Let see what Mellisa Kaplan has to say about natural pest control.

That would be a good example on how to get rid of pest without using any type of chemical in your house. Malaysia is located in the tropics and can be very good place for pest to breed or multiply its number. The most common pest in Malaysia as listed in the box here. You can also see what treatment methods and chemicals are used in Malaysia to get rid of those pest.

I believe different country has a different methods in overcoming this pest problem. As so far I never use private pest control to get rid of any pest in my house. In fact pest are not big problem in my house. What you should do is simply cut the link between the pest and the food and they will go away elsewhere to find some food.

Intergrated Waste Management And Pest Control Management

Some of us tend to take an easy way out by using poison to get rid the annoying pests in our home. There are too many poison or pesticides are available in the market for us to buy and use. Before you use those poisons or pesticides I think it probably wiser if you take sometime to consider the effect of those poisons or pesticides to your loves one such as your wife and kids. Taking easy way out always comes with negative impacts in the long run. One thing that probably very simple to reduce pest in your house is to practice good home waste management. The reason why those pest come to your house is because they are food easily available for them. Coacroaches for example will come to your kitchen if your kitchen or sink is dirty and if there are food left over scatterd on the floor. So good home waste managemet is very important as to cut the link between the food and pests.

Pesticides and other poisons have long been the main source of getting rid of annoying pests. However, we all are now dealing with the ramifications of treating these infestations of mosquitoes, roaches, rats and other varmints with poisons. Exposure to these chemicals has affected the health of not only our pets and other animals, but our own health too. Some of them have cancer-causing agents. These pesticides have also been known to cause immune diseases as well as other disorders.

Because we all are more cognizant of the environment and the harmful effects of the pesticides, safer pest control measures have been instituted all around the country. It is being recognized that many of these poisons and pesticides rarely reached the intended target, therefore rendering them useless. By using an Integrated Pest Management method, we can stop many pests before they get out of hand.

Integrated home waste mananagement and pest management prevents pests from getting too rowdy by using methods that are the least invasive, to not only humans but also the environment. Integrated Pest Management focuses on eliminating a pest's food source and living space. In addition, this management method focuses on physical as well as biological ways to control the pest population.

One preventative measure with Integrated Pest Management is blocking the method of entry into your home, office or other areas. Installing window screens and caulking cracks in your home's brick facade or sidewalk are two ways to block entry for pests. Purposely shutting doors and windows and relocating trashcans are also important.

Cleaning up after meal preparation, tightening trash can lids and properly storing food can also ensure that the Integrated Pest Management system succeeds. Take away their sustenance and those pests will find another place to party. We all have to keep in mind that we also should clean appliances like the can opener or even the stop top, where food particles are most likely to linger.

If we ditch our packrat ways, and get rid of clutter, there is less of a chance that any pests will be calling your house their home. These annoying critters love hiding, so get rid of those empty paper bags and boxes that might harbor them. However, what if you are unsure if you have a critter problem in the first place?

The use of glue traps is one way to see what is lurking about. Put these glue traps in the most vulnerable places in your home - the kitchen, bathroom and closets. These three places are popular tourist pest stops because of the food, dark and dampness from the bath or shower. When you locate where the pests are hiding, you can take effective steps to stop them.

The great thing about employing an Integrated Pest Management System is the budget. Hiring a pest control technician to administer pesticides and poisons can be costly, but with the preventative maintenance steps mentioned earlier, you will ultimately save more money in the grand scheme of things. In addition, getting those critters where they live and breed ultimately cuts their population down considerably.

I must say here that managing your home waste wisely is very effective pest control. It is not only ensure your health are not jeopardize by those pest control poison but also it is environmental friendly.

Basic Definition of Pest.

What is pest? According to the definition by wikipedia.com pest is an organism which has characteristics that are regarded by humans as injurious or unwanted. Sometimes when we call some one as pest of the society it means you are not too pleased if the person come near you. Well we will leave that for another debate at another time and let concentrate with the issue at hand. This is most often because it causes damage to agriculture through feeding on crops or parasitising livestock, such as codling moth on apples, or boll weevil on cotton. An animal can also be a pest when it causes damage to a wild ecosystem or carries germs within human habitats. Examples of these include those organisms which vector human disease, such as rats and fleas which carry the plague disease, or mosquitoes which vector malaria.

Pest is also not only related to agriculture alone but also to your house. Bed bugs, cockroaches, rats, termites etc are pest that often cause trouble to you in the house. Do not forget about flies, ants and mosquitoes. There are also considered as pest. If you go to any city in the world, try to have a look in the local newspaper. There are always pest control companies advertise their services to help you to get rid of the pest from your beloved home.

Most of the time the term pest may be used to refer specifically to harmful animals but is also often taken to mean all harmful organisms including fungi and viruses. Pesticides are chemicals that are used to control or protect other organisms from pests.

It is possible for an animal to be a pest in one setting but beneficial or domesticated in another (for example, European rabbits introduced to Australia caused ecological damage beyond the scale they inflicted in their natural habitat). Many weeds are also seen as useful under certain conditions, for instance Patterson's curse is often valued as food for bees and as a wildflower, even though it can poison livestock.

So basically we have covered all about the definition of pest here. I hope ofter this we have a better understanding about pest and how to control them.
